Were Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler Fired From American Idol?

After last weeks announcement that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was leaving his judges seat on American Idol. Pop star Jennifer Lopez has decided to follow suite as well. Lopez confirmed on Ryan Seacrest's radio show telling him, "I really was dreading this phone call with you."
"I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I've put kind of on hold because I love Idol so much."
However, it may be that both Tyler and Lopez never stepped down like what was reported. A new report states that both Lopez and Tyler were fired.
According to a report from the Hollywood Trade Paper; Lopez’s reps went into negotiations for her third season on the show asking for $17 million; a $2 million increase, but the network “surprised her” by not making a counteroffer.
As for Tyler, Sources say that he didn’t even get to the negotiation phase; FOX just didn’t pick up his option for another season.
If you think that's crazy, there's a rumor circulating that veteran judge Randy Jackson maybe stepping down from the judges panel, in favor of being a mentor like that of Jimmy Iovine. And Fox rep's want to revamp the show in order to save it for future seasons after last season's ratings dropped dramatically.
What do you guys think? Do you think Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez were fired? And do you think Randy Jackson should step down to make way for a new judges panel? Let's hear your comments!
